Jeff was one of the very early builders of mountain bikes as we know them. He was selected to build one of the exhibit bikes for the "Art of the Mountain Bike" show in 1990. This frame/stem was built a couple years prior.

Frame and stem as I got them:

Add a few parts, and it's back on the trails:

Wow, there's a lot to like about that. Tall stem, pump peg, fastback seatstays, head tube extended. Nice build too IMO.

Re:

That's a beauty, and that stem

Shame there's not a matching FB fork

was it made in Dallas by the Ewing familly ?

Very nice and cool frame !

Quality, looks 'modern' for an 88, nice details all over it.

+1
certainly looks later than 88, as most frames from that era look more like farmyard gates

Re:

That's too cool for school...

Love it and have to agree it looks a lot younger than its years...

Thanks gents....Glad to see I'm not the only one who fell for this one.

The ride is much better than I expected. Had to adjust my position a bit with the shorter top tube, but even though I usually ride a slightly larger frame, it was a lot of fun on the trails.

Still have my fingers crossed that the original fork turns up in the seller's garage, he's still digging.
The Koski I have on there now is a bit short in the steerer length, so I am having a Bontrager fork cut to fit...I'll post pics when I do the swap.

Cheers,
Steve

Re:

You know I really like a bike when I take the time to press these keys to form words to express the fact....

Nice bike.
