Im a bad man

Well so my missus tells me after yet another bike purchase!

The yellow trek I had my eyes on was worked on by the guys to remove the stuck seatpost and with a bit of heat and a lot swearing they got it free,so it's now all mine
It's a trek mountain track 820,not sure if it falls within retro date rules,I will need to do some digging.
Running this one as stock, dropouts will not work with singlespeed
Pics to follow

Can gripshift and deralier (I'll learn to spell one day!) be serviced? Trying to avoid spending any money on this bike at all.

Re:

A can of oil, some de-greaser, plenty of rags, basic tools and a lot of time and love should suffice.

Oh, and maybe some cables, brake pads and tyres, depending on their condition.
Some people just don't trust old rubber because it tends to deteriorate. Rust on the cables would be a bad sign too.

For those interested, here's Abaca getting ready to work on his Trek :

Absolutey love that, brilliant film as well.

Can anyone shed any light in what this front deralier is and how to remove it? ??
What tools will I need to remove the bottom bracket?
Anyone got a year for this bike??
Thanks
