I've bought a giant! No, not a Giant, but a giant Marin. Latest purchase from fellow member of this forum, dan_d, who was a pleasure to meet and do business with.
No matter which way you look at it, it's mahoosive! I haven't done much with it apart from adjust saddle, after freeing seatpost from its semi-permanent bond with the seat tube, and handlbars to taste, loosen the headset a little and pump the tyres up. It's oringinal apart from tyres, pedals and saddle and has been well looked after by former keeper for the last 20 years.
The Zolatone has smoothed out in places and there are a few bit of bare metal. Not too bad though. Needs a good service.
Question is, do I keep it totoally original, or upgrade it with period components. I really don't like the Exage 400LX kit, and have some Deore LX and DX kit from 1991 itching to go on. What a dilemma!
