Avid CR - damaged?

Anyone taken apart a set of Avid CR brakes and able to confirm these are damaged?

The white nylon washer behind the o-ring has a diagonal cut - it's not meant to be like that right?

It's just a packing spacer and is diagonally cut so you can slip it over the retaining lip without deforming it. It's a very common practice used in conjunction with elastomeric o-ring seals.

might be damaged, but could be also alright - if you are unsure about that, serivce parts are easily available f.e. - http://www.bike-components.de/products/ ... -2009.html

also Avid is offering manuals for lever and caliper overhaul.

hmmm, I did wonder about that - the diagonal cut looks too precise to have snapped so is unlikely to be the cause .... maybe it is another part - membrane? i ordered a kit anyways .....
