Might as well use a SRAM Dual Drive hub then.

4 gears in the front x 3 in the hub x 11 on the cassette = 132 gears

Old touring mechs were able to do 4 rings. A guy in my first club had one on his only bike. Used for everything from time trials (no mudguards, different wheels) to laden unsupported touring over 3 months on the dirt tracks of the Alps/Pyrenees/Rockies/Urals and so on.
