I've again picked a date entirely at random so I can be accused of all sorts of skullbuggery.

Same venue as before, bits of twisty urban singletrack plus some Fenland countryside.

The ride is around 36 miles depending on the days weather.

I'm told it can be bumpy but flat. Roughly how many lifts would you say? Thinking bike weight v comfort. Explosive effort is not my bag these days. No power lifting or truck pulling for example.

Sadly I'm dipping out. Had a go at the weekend. I managed 17m and half a dozen gates. I think the repeated lifting combined with the distance will be too much. I don't want to be a millstone or a flounce so doing the decent thing.

I prepped the zaskar especially with light fat tyres and all that.

Hope you all have a great time.

I'm sure even I can get a bike ready in that time. Its me that will be the let down.

The S&G is 'ready' its a tad too big though, and I've already done a fully rigid Gates ride! May lead to injury.

Unless there are some dramatic site changes, this is most likely to be the last one this year.

I have a bike, that actually works. Feeling quite good.

I will be there, but I'm going to be honest, if I feel like I'm holding peoples up, I'm going to drop out. Ive not ridden a bike properly since Dinosaurs where roaming.

Ok chaps and <deep voice> 'men', two weeks to go!

Sunday 22nd July

Arrive as early as you like but departure for around 10.30am please

Pm for location, be aware that the A1 and A14 are being upgraded in the area so there may be weekend road closures and diversions.

Bacon sarnies and tea in the morning

Jumble sale for the afternoon for those that don't have to rush home so bring tat.

Helmets are like the current law - optional. The ground is hard but there's no rocky climbs or fast descents and you're more likely to have a soft landing in a cow pat anyway.

I look forward to seeing you all!

Sunday is looking HOT.

The Fens are flat with big skies so cream yourself up and bring plenty of fluids.

We'll have a stop at St. Ives but after that its about 2 - 3 hours of no shops or pubs

Then comes the pub...
