I returned to the Rayner Dinner this weekend, and helped publicise the forthcoming availability of reproduction modern kit by Prendas. It was an amazing night as always with 27 young riders receiving vital funding from the fund this year.

It's a lot less hassle linking to the article on toadcycling UKs web site than downsizing SWPix's fabulous photo.

Kit available from December.

It’s been (cough) a few years since my last post, don’t worry Raleigh Banana is still in fine fettle, I was intrigued to see if anyone was still subscribed to this thread, and interested in the forthcoming updates?

That Oundle meet is just down the road from me if its the Oundle I'm thinking of and not any other Oundle out there.

Great story and how nice to hear a tale of bike restoration that goes beyond self indulgence.
Dave Rayner was an inspiration to me back when. I was a similar build to him but self conscious about it and struggling to get some speed in me legs. To think (and I did, often) "if he can do it then so can I" was a huge help for me.
And while I'm here, a little plug for the book of his life "Everybody's Friend", the profits for which go to the Dave Rayner Fund.

Apologies for the late reply - I've been a bit busy.

The event I was taking the Banana to was the Rouleur Classic in London.

Being in central London, simply getting the bike to the event was not so simple. Fortunately good old public transport worked great for me, with the bike in a big oversize bike bag. One train, one tube, and a long old walk like a pack horse.

Being on the Dave Rayner Foundation (now a registered charity) stand was ace - and my initial worries that no-one would be interested in "my" old bike were misplaced.

I took lots of pics, to share on here but I think that GCN have trumped me - they've made a short video, and also there's a more indepth piece in their review of the event.

I was very impressed with the video, I didn't get the chance to speak with the presenter, I was too busy listening to some bloke called, what's his name again - oh yes Greg Lemond...
