I think they made homegrowns of each model. 4 banger, hardtail, straight 6, S-30, etc. This happens to be what I thought it was(the title). Going to do a sympathetic restoration with modern cockpit and rear air shock. Hopefully I can track down some ceramic crossmaxes
Your bike appears to match the 1998 Schwinn Homegrown All Mountain XT, except that the Judy XL triple clamp fork had been switched out along the way.
Homegrown was the designation given to US-made models of the Schwinn line from around 1995 to 2001. The homegrown tomato on the spine of the top tube is another visual indicator of its Homegrown status (the Homegrown logos on the side can still be purchased on eBay and can mislead).
The most desirable modern Schwinns remain those that have Yeti provenance, most Homegrown Schwinns were not Yeti-built and if I am not mistaken, confined to bikes between 1995 to 1999, and only the Factory-designated bikes IIRC. And the only dual suspension bikes they were involved in were the Lawwill DH bikes. The rest were likely outsourced to manufacturers like Control Tech or Anodize Inc.
