Hi all

I am totally ignorant when it comes to bikes

I have just cleared out a family garage and found several bikes

The one I cannot identify a year for is a Worthy cycle, single gear, Reynolds frame, serial number under the crank is 11401

If anyone know how to find this out I would appreciate it

I can upload more pictures if needed

Thanks

Re:

Not an expert on these things myself by a long chalk, but looking at the details I would say mid 50's to early 60's.

Looks to me like 11401 is a c.1950 Holdsworth LaQuelda.

There seems to be quite a bit of inconsistency around numbers for 1950 to 1954 - probably related to high demand and boom in 1950 followed by bust after orders caught up at end of 1951 with market collapse due to auto gasoline becoming more available. Looking at Dave Scrimshaw's number data base it is difficult to assign production numbers and shape of production graphs for this period, thus affecting dating accuracy from serial alone. Adding to confusion there don't appear to be any 14XXX numbers surfacing whatsoever in Dave Scrimshaw's data. Significance?

I do think from #11401 (assuming clearly legible) frame is likely a 1950 build and looking at the all important details of your frame it is definitely a LaQuelda model.

Checkout Scrimshaw's Holdsworth Numbers thread and data on google site:
