Identify my (1950s?) Claud Butler track frame!

Hi Guys,

Came across this neat looking Claud Butler frame and forks today. It's got rear-facing drop-outs, cool lined lugs and an awesome fork (although the chrome's peeling pretty badly on the fork).

Serial number on the BB reads:

5111 U
5267

I know literally nothing about CBs… so, does anyone know what I've got?

Re: Identify my (1950s?) Claude Butler track frame!

Thanks @mdvineng - those frames look really similar.

So, do I own an Olympic Sprint then?

About dating, I've just found a little information on Claude Butler numbering.

5111 U
5267

Meaning, made in November 1951 with a serial number of 5267? I have no idea what the 'U' means.

Any information gratefully received! Gonna start cleaning her up now!

A lovely frame with beautiful lugs. The colour scheme is very nice, too.

Norman Kilgariffs site << http://www.nkilgariff.com/ >> features the 1951 Claud Butler catalogue with all the info. on your Olympic Sprint and its deluxe spearpoint bi-laminate lugs......always regretted selling mine a few years ago it was certainly eye catching

This frame has no lugs!!!

Claud (no "E") Butler frames were bonderised, rust proof system, reducing the internal corrosive effect largely from residual brazing flux.

A great example of the quality work that Claud produced.
