Just started popping some bits together, largely fuelled by boredom. Someone at somepoint has re-tapped the right hand thumbie o'mine and thus it won't tighten up properly cos the the first part of the clamp has now been threaded - MEH!!!! :(

Gonna have to find a small round file from somewhere now, oh bollocks!
 
Standard fix on those is to swap the bolt that holds the thumbie to the clamp with the bolt that tightens the clamp to the bars. The thumbie bolt is longer and sits deeper in the bar clamp hole. The great thing is the clamp hole is threaded far more that the length of the bolt in it, so it's probably not totally threaded. Fixed thousands of XT thumbies that way in my shop past...
 
I drilled out mine so that a standard steel nut could be bashed in to the aluminium - a bit like how plastic reflector clamps work.
