 Post subject: what is this off?

I have just stripped my bike for a rebuild and I have a loose part off one of the components on the work top, see image. the parts are deore lx and dx from 1994 and I have no idea what its off.

any ideas?

looks like a spring cover off a brake arm

It's the cover that goes over the rear mech where it bolts onto the frame.

Looks like its off the rear mech..goes over the bolt before you attach it to the frame :D

Close, but its off the back of a rear much, the spring cover from the bolt going into the frame.

Its def the cover off a rear mech,I recently changed the main spring on mine.
