I'm not sure it's a good idea to be giving out usernames just yet, as this could be a simple misunderstanding although I have to admit that it doesn't look like it.

Perhaps wait to see if the buyer comes forward first before starting the name & shame game..

Although, with the name given it does sound very much like a certain member (only going by the name and nothing else).

Right, I'll keep this short. The delivery address is mine, though I did not buy the bike, I was helping a US based forum member get the bike to the US as the seller would not ship directly. As I was simply forwarding on the package received, I took pics of everything as it arrived and as I unpacked it.

The bike arrived damaged due to poor packaging - see pics below

Here is a tip - when packaging a bike, don't simply remove the front wheel and handlebars and throw it in a box, hoping that the selotape you srapped around the bars will prevent the wheel from banging into the frame, causing damage.

Tip 2 - cling film does not really have any protective properties when used to wrap wheels, cassettes or frames.

Tip 3 - removing cables will help you package things more securely.

I simply sent the bike on to the member (who paid you for the bike) in the US, and you have quoted the messages/email discussions between you in this post.

As this has nothing to do with me, if you do not remove my address details from your post immediately, there will be serious consequences and you will be on the end of them.

You have been warned, take action now to avoid the reprcussions immediately!!

ishaw - Glad that you came forward.. I didn't want to imply anything by saying that I had an idea who the recipient might be :)

ditbicykles - That packaging is SHOCKINGLY BAD! I'm sorry that you seem to be having issues at the moment but, although I don't know ishaw personally, he's a regular forum member and definitely not somebody who would keep hold of a bike once they'd been refunded!

Have you thought that perhaps the reason you haven't received the bike back yet is because the refund (if you used Paypal) takes 7-10 days just to clear sometimes, so the bike may not be returned to you until the refund has completed. It's just a thought.

I certainly don't think that there's any deliberate wrongdoing happening here. I hope that it gets sorted out soon and I hope that next time, you PACKAGE THE BIKE PROPERLY BECAUSE NONE OF THIS WOULD HAVE HAPPENED OTHERWISE...?!!!?

All is not as it seems - see my response. If you are referring to me as 'certain member' then I am, but only by way of association/delivery address.

I hope the pics of the packaging/damage go some way as to demonstrate why the buyer of the bike was not happy, as well as my tongue in cheek pakaging tips but honestly, I am caught up in this by virtue of simply doing a member on here a favour. If this is now it results, then it's a favour I'll not be repeating.

I have also bought things from 'ditbicykles' in the past, and the manitou and rock shox parts never arrived. I had to go down all sorts of routes to get my refund.

There is no smoke without fire, so here is some kindling:

And another example of damaged/shoddy goods/postage damage from ditbicykles.

http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=186129&highlight=ditbicykles

Not sure if there is a pattern/trend being highlighted here, but unless you can't tell, I'm not too pleased I'm being dragged into this sorry tale when it has nothing to do with me.

I'm off to speak to the guvnor to get my address removed.

The moderators are aware of this thread & the other ones too

I'm sure they will be able to help deal with the situation.

If sales do go wrong the 1st port of call is contacting the buyer/seller

If that does not work them contact the moderating team/admin

Giving out personal information is not acceptable, as are threats about serious consequences

If mods are aware address should be taken off straight away, it not fair on Ian.
