Can you easily get spares for the RC36 forks like you can the S-Fly forks ?

Mostly. But TBH there's not much to break on an RC36. Biggest problem is the small bolts holding the stanchions in the crown but if you don't overtighten them then they shouldn't snap....

Seals are still available from Pace.

Bit of a novice question this, but what is the difference between supperfly and bombers, or are they just different names for the same thing.

Superfly is a post-1998 Z2 Bomber with air/oil instead of steel springs. It's to a normal bomber what a SID fork is to a Judy.... Just heavier.

I have had both.
The Pace i had was the gold legged pro-class in the 90mm variant. I found them to be fairly stiff, looked very cool, but in all honesty i found them a little dare i say too plush (even with the right spring).

The Z2 Superfly's were brilliant, very stiff, nice and light, but a little low on travel. They tended to ramp up a little quickly for my liking. On the plus side the damping in the Bomber was awesome as it always was in the older Marzocchi forks.

I would go for the Bomber as it is in my opinion a more confidence inspiring fork, and required a hell of a lot less maintencance than the Pace.

Bomber is the style of fork in the late 90's early 00's no idea if they still use it.
In 1999 (model year) they brought out their first Air/Oil version of this fork and called it the SuperFly under the Bomber Z2 range (I assume z2 was length at this time?), had all the trimming, Alu steerer, milled out brace, lightweight holed out crown etc...
It only lasted one year under the SuperFly (aka s-fly) as in 2000 it was renamed X-Fly and gained the M style brace. Other variants in 2000 came out under the X-Fly name and probably some other moniker for the cheaper end with less gubins inside.

They were lighter than the Spring/Oil bombers as oil and air is lighter than the very heavy spring.

What's wrong with the S-Fly's ?

Nothing wrong with them as such, maybe a little short on travel at 63mm, and I'd agree with Lawson about them ramping up pretty quickly... I just really like the look of the carbon fibre Pace forks, and a set of limited edition (150 made I think?) 'Eddie Irvine' RC36's would suit the limited edition (263 made) Bow Ti nicely

Not so sure about the pink and green though... :?

Nice to see the yellow version of the S-Fly, you don't normally see them, just the sparkly black version like mine.

Been interesting info though, I've only ridden mine once, and other than what I got from finding out about what I bought.... I no nothing

I have a set if 99 Z2 Superflys in red.

Personally If the current Z2 is a little short on travel I'd find a 2000 or 2001 Z2 X Fly or Atom which were 80mm. Those few extra mm can make a nice change.
