Very nice.

Is it me or is there quite a lot of higher-end / collectible stuff coming on to the market?

Sign of the times... bargains ahead?

Im not sure theirs a glut of stuff for sale due to covid 19, just more people with more time to search and post perhaps.

I've seen a few aparrent bargains elsewhere, cars etc, where sellers have cited money worries due to lost work. It's bound to happen really - some people will be hit hard and "toys" are going to be the first things to go. I'm definitely seeing an increase in collectable stuff coming on to the market.

Sad on the one hand, but there will be some deals... maybe it's finally time to buy that Porsche. ;)

Obviously no judgement passed on this particular seller's circumstances - and really none of my business!

GLWTS to the seller - hope it finds the right buyer at the right price.

Just looking at new bikes costing that approximate amount.

Suntour, M300, quando and unbranded bars 'n bits. 30 years time will be worth nothing, that is if they survive the first year.

In life it has always been about enjoying the best you can. Long time dead.
Some its boats, cars or travel, but for your short time why not ride about on what is undoubtedly a bicycle worth owning, riding or even just looking at.

Amen. There are only so many healthy years left to enjoy such things. These bikes are cheap compared to classic cars etc Never understood how some peeps wait years for their dream bike just to save a few hundred quid.

Keep coming back to this 'beauty' - worried I might be 'past it' - Is 753 harsh ? Are the forks 'point and shoot' ?
- gawd it's lovely to look at :-)

Re:

But what IS its value? If had a lower start price I would have bid, maybe up to listed £s. That would have shown there is a market price. If open and win at 1100 no evidence that there is anyone else in the world who shares view as to "value". Last Zinn sold (and I don't know enough to make comparison) went for about 600 quid.

Difficult one this. Depends how much you want it. Obviously the seller isn’t willing to let it go for less. Equally it depends whether your buying a bike for an investment, or to keep. I paid £1500 for my Orange Formula, if I sold it now, I bet I wouldn’t get anywhere near it. Maybe a grand at best. However, I bought it purely because I liked it.
Anyway just for the record I think £1100 is a fair price for such a beautiful bike.. I think bikes sales are going to suffer somewhat, with the nation, not earning, or earning a percentage of there regular wage. Spending on high priced items, is probably a low priority in a lot of households unfortunately.

Re:

If I would be able to ride it for a few years, then yes worth buying. But my health is such that that is extremely unlikely. I have to consider how easily my executors could make good the drop in my cash assets. Very particular personal circumstances I know.

I cant comment on personal circumstances, or how big your pot is, but should the end of the world arrive, for you or for me, i wouldnt want to be the richest man in the grave yard.

If i can be so bold Dave, if you like it, treat yourself, whether to look at or ride, at worst your executors will would have to release your assets, and they will only list it on ebay, by which time the Pandemic which is scaring everybody into selling there prized collections will have passed, and we will still be here, climbing over each other to try and rustle up the funds to by it.

The buyer would have very little to loose, to be frank, i would want a Grand for the frame/fork/stem on there own.
