Zieleman Type Special - blingtastic ! :-)

Hi,

Around Christmas I finised this mid 70s Zieleman Type Special. Ko Zieleman was one of the well known masterbuilders from Amsterdam. The shop at the Reggestraat is still there, but there are no longer frame building activities going on. Frame parts like dropouts, lugs and BB shell got a special treatment to save weight: filing, drilling, milling etc.

For the project I chose a gold theme: brakes, cockpit and hubs are finished in gold, as is the frame.

Wheels, cockpit and brake levers are NOS.

The dropouts are not easy to recognise, but they are modified Campagnolo 1010 dropouts. A lot material has been milled away at the back and there are drillings in the flanges:
