Not of any help but JE James sell new steel (heavy) steerers for £19 delivered. Got one last week.

That's interesting gruff - have you or anyone you know had this done? I'd want to be sure in my own head that it was bombproof, as I'd like to use the fork for a long, heavily loaded expedition tour.

Cant remember who, but someone on here had one done recently by Windwave (UK importers of Marzocchi). Think it was £40 for them to press in a new steerer - i'll try and find who it was...

Thanks, that's really helpful. The fitting service is £20 including postage plus the cost of the parts! Not bad! I've sent them an email.
