An informative discussion about whether an HGV could push a small french hatchback sideways on a wet motorway and not even notice :D

Friends of mine were hit in their Clio by a LH drive lorry pulling over into their lane and not seeing them. Their car was shoved from his right hand side, across the front of the truck and spat out on the left hand side and he didn't notice.

Like the previous poster stated, the wight of a little car compared to what an HGV can pull is nothing!

I like to hurtle along in the outside lane where it's safe, well away from lorries!

Didn't Singletrack have a similar, long-running thread?
"Could a helicopter take off from a moving / rotating platform"... Or something like that.

I stand corrected on all accounts, blimey.

And just for the record, I was involed in trucks most of my younger years working, so i am aware of the power but just thought that the trucker would have noticed a braking effect when he changed gears!!!

Anyway thats what you get for having a french car.

Watch the responses to this one

its in the news...

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/west ... 574609.stm

The owners of the lorry, Cheshire-based Arclid Transport, and West Yorkshire Police are investigating the incident.
A spokesman from the company said: "There was an incident between a car and one of our vehicles in January.
"Since seeing the footage from YouTube we are investigating."
He added that he believed the female driver of the Clio had not been injured in the incident.
The company said the lorry driver was sent home on Wednesday, when the video emerged on the internet.
He added that the accident happened on 13 January and police had investigated, but to date no action had been taken against the lorry driver.

probably just spam but theres a guy on the youtube comments claiming to be the driver, saying the clio swerved in front after a puncture and that he as the lorry driver was braking....
