Mr. Bagpipes, recently.

Close but "no cigar". We do share the same hair cut though.

-40 is something that words cannot properly describe. You must experience the frosty nasal cavity, crispy brow and difficulty moving your lips after 10 mins of exposure. At times when you speak and inhale, you are reminded as to the temperature when your teeth feel like you've bitten into ice cream and kept it there for 20 minutes. Hence the balaclava. Monday is Single Speed day. The cold is too much for the shifters etc so SS it will become. Crap beater/winter bikes are always fun to toy with.

For the most part -25 is common. It's that pesky wind that gets into the bones.

(and thank God for snowblowers)

i once had -30 in west germany in 81.....the river essen froze ...we used it as a carpark for a while...it snowed for months that year

British people should not complain about cold weather cos it's not cold, but crappy weather, cos it's shite ! :D

we are -7 now and that is nothing compared to the -20 of shamus
Complaining about the weather is a national pastime. It's either too cold, too wet, too windy, or even too hot.
Still, musn't grumble.

Reminds me of a Ripping Yarns episode...

I've just got back from a great night ride. Just a circular route around my little town, with the lightest of snow falling through the trees- magical. Out of the five of us, three lost the use of their gears because of the ice. I was SingleSpeed but my drink turned into slush puppy. Great fun though, slippy, muddy, lots of laughter and been on my arse a few times.
Now sat in front of a gently crackling log fire and onto my third glass of port. Does life get any better?

Si

We just have to cope with a little bit of dust, and the odd puddle here. Similarly the only clothing choices to be made are which short sleeve jersey to wear ;)

Well, I've just got in from my late night walk with Lucky, and it appears to be raining outside. Bye bye, snow.

The coldest I remember in the UK was -30 with the windchill in Suffolk, I had to ride everyday to school, and when the register was called was only able to make a semi comprehensible noise. Last year was pretty cold though, -15 at times, though as it has been pointed out, better be dry at -20 than wet at 0.

Talking of which, the temperature just dropped to about 5 degrees, and now it´s raining! Time to go to the beach maybe.
