Afternoon Gents
I don't seem to be able to log in.
Yes we have moved to Driffield, Primarily the terms and conditions put on us by the owners of the Knavesmire made it untenable to carry on with this site.
Under the new terms there was to much to loose.
1. If the weather was deemed to be to bad (Raining) they would shut down the event
2. We have to give 6 months formal notice to proceed - we got this info last week
3. No crossing of the race track - Unable to use the in field
4. Lots and lots more ...........
When spending upwards of 25k to book this event and thousands of hours between committee and all control being removed it was decided to move to a site that would secure this events future.
The bonus point being the facilities are far better than the racecourse and geographically positioned for a wider catchment with better access. (There is a North past the M62)
Joking aside the Driffield showground has facilities far above and beyond York
2 permanent buildings
Fenced main arena
Fenced site
Access roads throughout
Showers, Toilets
outdoor seating
Security is much better
Less than 30 mins from the east coast, 30 miles from York
Off road rides available in local area - Looking for guided ride leaders!
Better road rides in local area
And last but not least ..............
They want us!
This venue will be the best thing that has happened to the event in 80 years! Yes some will moan, Yes some people may have to travel an extra hour.
I personally put some serious work into this, and the scale of it is significant given over 5000 people attend over the weekend. We all love bikes, nothing else other than the Malverns (Great Event) caters for us!
I would say it can not have had too much impact on foot fall, we opened camp site booking on Saturday evening and have just tipped over 100 bookings!
I'm happy to listen to all suggestions to improve the event, drop me a message at
[email protected] or find me on Facebook Dave Broadbent
Cheers
