Yet another project looms.. (Thanks Retro Bike)

Hi guys , yet another project looms.. I have just purchase a serrotta t-max and need as much info about period correctness as posible.. I was thinking maybe a suntour XC pro group on her ,, what do you think ? or should it be shimano XTR ? what wheels/Fork etc ?

Your help would be appreciated..

Imo 3 possibilities that I clearly prefer over any other:
- full XTR m900
- full Campagnolo RecordOR
- full Campagnolo Icarus

Yea I did think Campagnolo Or , I could get hold of the chainset 'maybe' and possibly brakes, when someone gets back to me, but the problem is going to be the front and rear mechs and shifters ?

Do you not think XC Pro would work and look nice and is period correct ?

What's wrong with xc pro? only because Serottas are usually assembled with campy or xtr this doesn't mean suntour wouldn't do.
I would go with it - possibly microdrive - I don't like the black chainrings of the standard gruppo.

Well I was thinking of full xc pro , excluding the chainset which would be a cooks rsr ? what do you think to that ? is that period correct enough ? :lol: :lol:

Si,

That would be perfectly period correct.

@Nove
It's true I have see many with the Campa or XTR stuff ...but one never can see enough :lol: I think as Serottas are very classy and elegant the m900 and Campa stuff complement them really well. Other parts from for example Syncros, preferably Ti :)

Absolutely, XC Pro is great stuff. I think it is even my favourite groupset. GreaseGuard is so Cool. I like to preserve things. GG is so my attitude. Only for all day I do prefer XTII because of wide availability of spares.

In the 1992 catalogue (see the famous German catalogue site) the T-Max and ATX can be seen without m900 or Campa! XT m730 and the 'Misto Lite' option are shown instead. The later was a selection of light bits from several manufacturers. A bit XC Pro, some XT, bit Ringle... completely performance aimed 8)

Well I do have the choice of using either XC Pro or XT 732/5 not sure really ,its going to be a rider so might try one, ride it then try with the other... mmmm choices .... fancy a mainly black build though and think the XC Pro brakes with them being black would be nicer...
