Y282’s GT mtb to bmx cruiser conversion…

Y282

Old School Hero
Owned this for a really long time. It’s sat in various sheds and under workbenches over the years until i could properly do it justice now. Finally finished the main build this evening. Waiting on Tange frame and fork decals and have a different rear single cog to go on but other than that it’s done.

Lacquered raw steel, singlespeed for lazy cruising. This thing’s been through everything since i bought if as a 70 quid scrapper in early 90s. Enjoy…

Fantastic job, bmx is such a natural direction for GTs. I feel the look works better with the sloping top tube of the smaller triple triangle frames. Gold chain was an inspired choice, matches the welds nicely. I absolutely adore the clear lacquer over raw steel as well. I don't just want to ride this, I want to build one like this.

Liking that a lot 👍👍
Echo what Matt said - GTs just scream out for this treatment and I did an M2000 a while back
