XTR M952 front shifter not pulling the cable?

Just setting up the gears on my latest build and I noticed my front shifter is not pulling the cable at all

Took the cable out of the outer and frame to check if anything was impacting it and removed and reinstalled the cable but when clicking the shift levers it’s not doing anything/not pulling the cable at all.

I’ve heard spraying some WD40 in there can fix it but not tried it yet.

Any other ideas before I attempt to disassemble the shifter?

Thanks guys

Take the underneath cover off. Make sure the cable cradle is moving as it should be , and the cable end is located inside it.

If it moves , but isn’t clicking. Blast it with GT85 (not WD40) and keep clicking through gears each way until it sorts itself.

You can also use a tiny screwdriver to wiggle the ratchet pin thingy to free it up. It’ll be dried gunk most likely.

Thanks mate. All sorted!

Next issue, the high / low screw heads are gumped

Going to need to try and remove them with pliers or a screw extractor (if I can find one small enough) 🙄

Firstly put the whole mech in either some penetrating oil or spray it multiple times

Then using a small sharp screwdriver and a hammer tap a new groove. The screws are soft so it’s easy.

Got the screws out and replaced them with a pair from another front mech

Ended up using my hacksaw to cut new grooves in and slowly removing with a bigger flat head screw driver
