So I have a pair of XTR first liner pull brakes aka v-brake
I know nowt about them and never read anything about them BiTD (as I left the scene...)

Anyways,
There is a little grub screw on the brake arm behind he pad holder bit.
So I've unscrewed it and well doesn't seem to do anything ?
What does it do ?

And any other hints and tips on keeping them going... please :D How to take it all apart , re-grease whatever is in there, bushings ? (grumbles, my m900 cantis are much simpler)
Should they 'ratchet' when off the bike (when I play with the parallel push bit)

No idea what they are like on the bike as they've not got that far.

I've found nowt on the web yet :(

I'm sure there must be others that like to tinker and fettle like me :)

The grub screw holds the pivot pin in place - you usually can't see it because the ends are covered up by little black covers. Not usually a good idea to take 'em apart, unless you have a tune-up shim pack to put in there.

I've experienced the 'ratcheting' you mention, but I just flooded the open parts of the main pivot near the spring tension adjuster screw with GT85. The ratcheting could still be felt, but only when it put through the range manually, off the bike. Once mounted I couldn't detect any resistance and it turned out to be one of the lightest action brake setups I've used.

Ah, so the end caps come off, will have a play later :)
So a pin comes out... I know the shim kits as I asked about them a month back just in case. not got one but that'll not stop me ;)

Down at the canti pivot bolt part... The black plastic cover came off and under it looks like two nuts I can adjust, undo ... ?
Also the inner part that goes over the brake stud doesn't seem round, looks like an 8mm allen key might fit in. So anyone know what happens if I have a play with these

If you take them apart be careful. There's quite a few pin-head sized ball bearings in the pivot (where the two nuts are).
I put a bit of the Finish-Line 'green' lube on the pivots on my set.
