I've got a set of the original XT V's (BR-M739), which date from 96-98ish. Currently on my commuter bike but soon to be surplus (I've offered the levers to someone else, without which there isn't much point keeping the brakes... )

I think they're in good condition, except for some surface rust on the little black links between the pivots and the pad holders. This would probably clean up ok though.
