Sorry if this has been asked before, but I've been googling and surprisingly can't find anything...

can anyone tell me the chain capacity of an XT RD-M739 rear mech?

largest/smallest sprockets and chainrings, tooth difference, etc.

I'd like to know if it should work with what I'm intending, before I try it (and possibly run into problems!)

thanks, Andy

it'll probably work.
SS or SGS version ? i.e what cage length as that determines the capacity, i.e. how much chain it can wrap and not go slack.

anyway...
officially is 11-32 sprockets.
20T at the front (e.g. 24-xx-44)
and
total capacity of 38 for long and 33 for short.

oooh and here a pic wiht the info (google image search RD-M737)

you would normally be able to push it a bit beyond that, say a 34 at the back and ignore the slack chain in small small setups to run a wider spread at the front.

thanks for the info! that should work fine then, I'm pretty certain mine is the long cage version (I think that's the SGS one, right?)

I've got an 11-34 9 speed cassette, and will be using two rings on the front although I'm not sure what size yet. either a 24 or 26 small, and 36 or maybe 38 large.

thanks, Andy
