May well be interested in the XT...(dumb?) question - how do I know which kind of pull I need?

if your front mech cable is routed along the top tube - you need top pull

if the front mech cable is routed along the downtube - you need bottom pull

seeeeemples!

Aha - then it is bottom pull I need (and you have done me a favour with that knowledge) but I think the seat tube diameter is more like 33mm

what bike is it for? there'll be plenty of enthusiasts on here who will be able to help with the dimensions for you.

31.8 or 34.9 i think are the common sizes for oversized tubes - never heard of a 33
