XT hub opinions.

I recently got a set of XT M785 hubs with the intention of lacing on a set of Mavic XM717 v brake rims and away I go.Lately I have heard various bad reports on these hubs- quality wise and some even failing after a few rides.Any thoughts?

I know that the long distance touring community went away from them as the bearings were smaller than hubs with steel axles and lasted less well.

Yes, though for day to day trunching they are long lived enough.

Exactly - if you are not expecting yourself 500 miles from the nearest bike shop with only a yak as a rideable alternative then they are fine.
