Well Xmas is coming and its time for new bikes for xmas for my eldest 2 know the 2 i have in mind for them are Halfords Carrera Vengeance Ltd Disc Mountain Bike 18"

http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stor ... yId_165499

and the CRC

BeOne Kosmos Hardtail Bike 2010

http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... elID=45897

my question is does anyone have any experience of either of these and are they any good and if you have something in mind other than these then feel free to let me know lol.

Budgets are set in stone as i have 4 the blighters to buy for at xmas lol

I haven't looked at alternatives but the Carrera gets my vote, it has discs, hydraulic too. Looks cool in white. Was a lot more expensive (or was it?!?!)
The BeOne just a has a lesser known brand coolness.
Youngsters will choose discs over lesser known brands.

Four Christmas presents at £300 a time  It's an expensive time of year in your household.
It just makes me glad that our kids aren't kids anymore (28 and 26) but then we never spent anywhere near that much on them for presents.

Anyway, back to the point - my daughter bought one of those Be-One bikes last year (against my advice, as they do  ). The frame is nice enough but the componentry is pretty unexciting, to say the least IMHO.

I hate to say it but don't Trek or Specialised do anything in that price range? If so, it'd probably be a better buy.....

Andy R yeah 4 is expensive not all four are getting £300 bikes though youngest two arent seeing they only 4 and 6, but the eldest two are 11 and 15 and have been harping on about new bikes for a while.

Specialised have a hardrock that is around the budget depending on where you get it from it ranges from £269 to £350 he issue is for the younger of the two as i need something i can get a 15-16" frame on and the carrera only starts at 18", tis all good though as means i get to frequent many bike shops and not have the wife complain as its for the kids honest lol

The downside is though that you'll be spending a load of money on bikes that you don't actually like.

The joys of parenthood, I seem to remember

The vengeance ltd is a pretty good bike for the money and one of the better ones from that store , I can say that from personal experience too . It's just a shame it's from that store . Get a boxed one and it'll be reet .

How about one of these ?

I can guarantee it will be built exceptionally well , put in a very large box and when you receive it you only have to turn the bars and put the pedals on and it's ready to go , once set up it gets double checked by a second qualified person , it won't leave the stand unless it's spot on . Maybe give the shop a call and ask if anything similar will be available ex demo . The ex demo bikes will be at the end of their working life very soon ( over 400 of them ) and will be stripped down and rebuilt ready for sale , a fookin bargain can be had .

Jeez..it's not even September yet.

I forward a proposal that any X*as stylee threads be automatically and summarily banned/deleted until ..mmm...the start of November?
