WTD: xtr m970 v's

I found the last one for sale about 2 years ago but managed to snag a complete one and a partially used one a few days ago.
Apart from the linkage bit which you'd only need in extreme cases the shims are just thin steel, I've got some titanium foil that would do exactly the same job and is sold in lots of thickness's.
I think from M951 onwards there's an adjustable bushing that stops them rattling against the canti mounts, my XT ones rattle like mad and drives me bonkers!

Ah i see - a useful tip!

the M952's have the anti rattle system (I have a set of those - an extra spring on the mechanism i think)

The M951's and 950's are the ones that tend to rattle a bit (still work great) - hence my buying some m970's to replace a set of m951's!

Huh, I thought there was a nut under the rubber grommet on M951 that changed the diameter of the hole that goes on the mount. There's a spare arm coming with the rebuild kits so I'll have to check. Good old Shimano don't make any mention of this stuff in the service docs though.
Anyway, glad you're sorted, they're awesome brakes, I much prefer them to discs.
