WTD raleigh record ace - 22.5 inch preferably the one ....

Re: WTD raleigh record ace - 22.5 inch preferably the one ..

Is it this one you're after:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0680405440

which is for sale just down the road from my office? Not 100% sure on the frame size but I'd guess 57cm since in the questions the seller states it's 59cm C-T.

It looks to be in pretty good condition besides a couple of scrapes on the fork which you might be able to touch up. It looks as though the big ring is drilled too. I've been following this since it was listed and am very tempted, but I really cannot store another bike just now!

Cheers,
Gareth.

Preferably the one with drilled chain rings - (82 ish)
condition doesnt really matter as long as its repairable.

Thats a european model, I saw it and was very tempted, however transporting back from Belgium is an issue, I have a couple of the UK model early 80s Record Aces, this is the model I they will be looking for:

They will come up on ebay every couple of months, last one of the date you wanted was cheap, but lots of surface rust and hardly any original components, somebody posted on the ctc forum last week for a 23.5 RRA frame and got one, keep looking and asking.

thanks

:( - the ebay one in belgium was superb - and went for smarties, but with 3 minutes to go when i got online i wasnt comfortable taking up gareths kind offer. Ive been looking on and off for 2 years. I had one 20 odd years ago but sold it as a student. Ive had various bikes since then but none as good ...... I suspect many of these are kept by enthusiasts - like this chap

Dont know if you have seen the pics if mine, I have the 22.5 which is absolutely original down to the tyres, and never been restored, and a 23.5 which is in for restoration at present, that will be slightly off original spec however with a Brooks saddle, slightly newer rear mech (campag victory I think) and esge gold mudguards I acquired are slightly wider profile too, but will look ok, alongside I am having a Raleigh Gran Sport frame painted in RRA colours too with Roval Fusee E5 gold wheels and Concor Rolls brown suede saddle with gold trim which should look amazing.

My collection is getting a bit excessive, so maybe a very good offer could part tempt me to part with one, although they were the first bikes I fell in love with when I started cycling, hence the current much loved collection.

this site wont let me upload pics direct, it says the files are too big, I have a 14.1 mega pixel camera which is great for detail, but low tech sites dont seem able to cope with it, if you pm your email address I will forward pics of my uk model

Acquired another nice original spec RRA, uploaded more pics of my 22.5 and the latest 23.5, I am still awaiting transfers for the restoration of my other 23.5
