Written Project - some help required

Morning all,

I need a couple of pointers regarding a written project I have to complete in work. The project is the final part of a 3 year study process (which has taken me 4 - which will surprise no one). I have details of the format etc and the headings for the project - and i have a good idea of what the content will be. But, a couple of things are causing me problems -
1. In the brief for the project, it mentions that, if possible, the appendices should be 'tabbed' - any bright ideas how this is done?
2. I am planning to use 'good' paper (a heavier grade than our normal tissue paper stuff) - any ideas what to use?
3. I am also thinking about the page format and i would like (not for definite though) a border around each page - fine grey line - opinion please

I am sure most of the emphasis will be on the content but there seems a lot of info regarding the actual layout etc so i want to do both as well as i can.

A last request - has anyone a similar project/thesis/disseration OR knows where i could look at a 'good' one so i can get an idea what a completed one should look like. I have no interest in the content at all, I would like to see what a professional layout should look like.

Thanks all, I hope you are enjoying your weekend (I am still on night shift and getting very grumpy!)

Re:

I would have thought a visit to a stationers would sort out both the tabs and the paper.

Tabs, you used to be able to get plastic self adhesive tabs, but a neater solution would be separator pages, either in plastic or card.

Paper, I would have thought good quality printing paper, rather than home use or photocopy paper.

Borders, hmmm, print a couple of trial pages and see if it looks naff or smart.

I can't help wiv a feesis, as I dun exams, not nun of dat writted stuff.

Thanks,

Neil, I was in a stationers and they don't think that tabs on bound documents are a good idea - I tend to agree. The tabs would be ruined very quickly and they are really designed for folders. I have been asking around regarding this and it appears that I should forget about the tabs. I will keep an eye of for a workable solution, failing that, I will forget about it.

I bought paper - 120g (maybe) £11 a packet - not the cheap stuff I usually use in work.

Re the borders, I will concentrate on content at the moment and then have a look how it appears with a border and without.

Thanks all, just the easy bit to do now - writing it all down in crayon!

It is a closely guarded secret, I would appreciate it if you did not spread it around.

Keep an eye out for the TGR tag on walls near you - in pink Crayola!
