.The countdown to Wales Rally GB starts this weekend (30 - 31 October) with a two day motor sport festival.
Stobart M-Sport Ford Rally Team driver Matthew Wilson will make a guest appearance at Rallyfest North Wales, and will give motorsport fans a taste of what they can expect to see when Wales Rally GB, the final round of this year’s World Rally Championship, kicks off on 12 November.
On Saturday the free festival runs from midday until 4pm in the town of Conwy, where a range of vehicles competing at this year’s Wales Rally GB will be on display and a selection of British drivers will take part in a question and answer forum.
On Sunday, again from midday until 4pm, the festival will be in Llandudno where special guest Wilson will perform a series of demonstration runs in his Ford Focus RS World Rally Car. There will be competitions during the afternoon to win passenger rides with Wilson as well as tickets to this year’s rally.
The competitive action on Wales Rally GB starts from Cardiff on Friday 12 November as planned, however organisers recently announced a change to the pre-event shakedown test.
Shakedown was scheduled to run from 0800hrs to 1200hrs on Thursday 11 November at Margam Park, near Port Talbot. However an infection affecting trees in Margam Forest has promoted a change to a new location in Cardiff Bay and a new time of 1900hrs until 2200hrs on Wednesday 10 November. No other stages or venues on the rally are affected
This October, on Saturday 30th and Sunday 31st, Wales Rally GB and the World Rally Championship (WRC) will take over Conwy and Llandudno for a two day rally festival.
The final round of the FIA WRC - Wales Rally GB - is taking its all-new Rallyfest on tour, so motorsport fans and families alike can get a taster of the event in North Wales.
Supported by Conwy County Borough Council, Rallyfest North Wales will start in the historic coastal town of Conwy on Saturday 30th October. Here, on Conwy Quay, spectators will be able to get up close to a host of different specification rally cars, covering the range of vehicles competing in this year's Wales Rally GB. The static display, set against the spectacular backdrop of Conwy Castle and the estuary, will take place between 12 noon and 4pm and will be accompanied by driver question and answer sessions, competitions and a range of entertainment so that everyone can enjoy the fun.
On the following day, Sunday 31st October, Llandudno will be the setting for Rallyfest North Wales' action display. Drivers will show off their world class capabilities as they perform live for fans on West Shore between 12 noon and 4pm - definitely an event not to be missed! The nearest visitor parking will be on Gloddaeth Street and West Shore will be signposted from here.
Entry to Rallyfest North Wales is free of charge.
