I'm thinking of offering a vintage hub & rim on the site karma + postage. Happy to give them for free if people want them but a bit concerned about the hassle of postage.

How do people generally post rims/wheels? Do you need a box or will bubble wrap & plastic be OK?

Personally, Cardboard boxes will do the job well, for hubs and rims, just wrap the hub in bubble wrap so it doesn't kill the rim in transit

large carboard box; piece of cardboard in between both wheels and bubblewrap.

a more sophisticated version is a bigger box with a layer of cardboard alongthe bottom with two slots for the rims and same again on top to stop wheels from rattling and doesn't need bubblewrap.

although the wheels are light, the postage will still be high due to box dimensions, just posted a set for 10.99 postage.

I also make a fairly thick short cyclinder from corrugated cardboard to sit over the ends of the hubs- stops them gettin' poked through the box.......same around the freewheell/cassette.

Let's not cut corners this late in the day,not nice to get a note saying it was crushed in transit.
