Nice. New stem arrived for mine yesterday and I've got an inline seat post on its way from wadsy. Will get a new pic up for you once it's done

A friend of mine had one BITD . Strong as an ox he was , but never had any trouble with it .


BTW , did you get the foam grips you wanted a while ago ?

Hey Mike, thanks for your comments...I wouldn't say I was strong as an Ox, maybe as a Wookiee! Or maybe I just weigh the same...!

I never did get the grips just spun the grips around so that the split was underneath for now...

Think my friends Specialized was deep burgundy with yellow stickers on it

Ha no worries mate was hoping for a cheaper than the shop pair hope no offence was taken! The Burgundy one was a 92 or 93 I think? I have really struggled to find out much info about them really.... :?:

...so next question...whilst the down tube shifters function fine I'm not so keep on having to take one hand off the bars to change gear on a downhill section for instance. So I have a pair of RSX 7 speed STI's on hand to fit...only thing is I am well out of my comfort zone with road bikes and things like fitting new levers!! So a couple of queries??:

- The handlebar tape on at the mo I like if I unwrap it will I be able to re-use it after fitting the new levers?

- I have some down tube barrels to mount the cable into is there anything else I need??

- Is there a guide to fit STI's and new tape, I'm sure there must be?!

DON'T REMOVE THE BAR TAPE !

There is a good chance the levers will screw straight onto the clamps already there . Undo the brake cables and pull the brake levers back . Put a 5mm allen key in the front of the lever and undo . The brake lever should come off with the cable . The sti lever should be the same bolt , have a look . If it is the same , simply put a brake cable through it , locate it in the end of the inner cable , push it through , and do up the 5mm bolt to clamp the lever in position . It can be a bit fiddly to locate , but worth the effort if it saves you a bigger job .

Ahh ok thanks for that...they are 105 brake levers that are to be replaced so you think that it is the same diameter screw?

...Rolled back the rubber hood of one of the 105 levers and the tape seems to overlap the lever...not sure if its possible to just remove one and replace with another....
