Wooden bike

I actually really like to color and shape of the frame. Does anyone know how going for a ride works in the rain? Any permanent damage result from that, or is it coated with some special anti water stuff?
 
Saw this one in Crested Butte around 1987.

Wow that looks great, I guess nothing is new in the work of bikes. I wonder how the seat height is adjusted since the rear brake cable goes through the seatube!

Can these be classed as a monocoque chassis?
 
Ah, more inspiration, I am trying to convince my pal to make one out of laminated timber, he being a wood design student, but he is not into bikes, but I have so far got him interested in the WW2 De Havilland Mosquito as an expression in laminated timber design.
