Winter tyres? (cars)

No they're not the be all and end all, but not everyone has the skill and ability, nor the education and experience, to drive in the snow, or other tricky conditions.
EVERYONE can benefit from using winter tyres in cold weather, no matter how good a driver they think they are.

+1
Thats why I insisted on Tasha having them fitted to her car. Her driving is fine, but she's only been driving 6months. The added benefit for the smallish outlay was a no brainer for me.

after 3-4" of snow yesterday I thought I'd better stop being lazy and fit my winter tyres.......well, either fit them or not get off the drive.....what a difference, I had a most enjoyable drive round the villages picking out the trickiest routes.....waiting for other motorists to give up and slither back down the hill at which point I'd smile understandingly and with a cheery wave proceed on my way

For anyone that is in any doubt....the difference on snow is like night and day....get some and be safe 8)

when living in France we always had winter tyres from november till march . made life a lot easier .
