Winter boots are the way to go...fannying about with overshoes is a pain.

I borught some Shinao winter boots recently and use them with sealskin socks...completely waterproof and warm which if your commuting in the depths of winter on a regular basis is what's needed.

The boots I brought were around £130 from here.....

I've still got some Endura overshoes that I think I used twice, before realising that while they might be ok on the road they're useless off it.

I've been using Shimano MT90's for a couple of years now and really rate them - at least they keep my feet dry and warm (until water comes over the top, anyway  ) and at least they're not too bad for walking in if you have to do any portage-type stuff.

Another vote for winter boots rather than overshoes. By the time you've shredded a couple of sets of overshoes you realise it makes much more sense to spend a bit extra on decent winter boots.

I currently use a pair of Gore-Tex lined NorthWave Gran Canyon V GTX boots along with Seal Skinz socks in winter for nice warm dry feet.
In the snow last winter I changed from SPDs to flat pedals and used a pair of walking boots for even more warmth and practicality.

Here in Canada we break out the Hanebrink Extreme bikes and run Sorrel boots with modded (longer) Power Grip straps.

Surprising how effective plain old carrier bags are :?

Small bin liners are better though, as most carrier bags now have those little safety holes in them  .
