Winter klunker/tracker esque project REYT PACK RIDER

When I went onward on foolish action
I looked upon her with seventies eye,
That liked, but had a rougher task in hand
Than to ride liking to the road of love.
But now I am manhood, and that war-thoughts
Have left their places vacant, in their rooms
Come thronging soft and delicate desires......

Oh poor Armstrong the victim of my plans
Turns heads through trees and tracks on fast descent
To best those riders with more skilful hands
With ride and styles and time more earthly spent.

I recall using a Phillips premier for one and then a succession of raleigh equipes.

Sound like an interesting alternative botm challenge!

So, Armstrong (yes i'm free lesson one and they foolishly allow me internet access) with 26" wheels hub braked and geared, sadly i think it's a twist grip 5 speed. Would this be capable of going suntour thumbie?

If that fork fits I might try a converter and 1 1 1/8 ahead bullmoose bars that i know are on the wall. Suitable maybe dia compe levers or even proper older school heavy metal types. Skinny road biased tan wall panaracers, williams cranks, a brooks and we're done .

All in shed, nothing bought, very much in the tradition of a seventies schoolboy build but with found parts we couldn't have dreamed of back then. I remember weinmann calipers etc, single speed or sturmey threes. sit up and beg 'old boy' frames, the heavier the better for durability.

Often the discarded racers would have missing or knackered wheels...... Anything that was true enough to go between the caliper was accepted.

I had a set of weinmann centre pull brakes that went onto several trackies. Not that they were any better than the standard side pull cheapo brakes.....i think the issue was the old racer tyres!

Taking retrobike to a new level here, THM. 👍

Negotiations went well. I have a shed day tomorrow, once I’ve cooked breakfast and got the slow cooker on.
