There's quite an underlying air of chauvinism here, what with this idea that women actually want to spend money on vacuum cleaners and stuff like that......
Well, trust me, they don't want to spend money on Hoovers, washing machines, irons, fridges etc etc. They don't "want" to spend money on things like that any more than I want to spend money on central heating pumps, brake discs, brake pads and exhausts for our car.
Nor do they want to spend time ironing any more than I want to spend time lying under a f*cking car fitting new brake pipes.
But until walls plaster themselves, cars fit their own oil filters, food keeps itself fresh and carpets clean themselves we all need to buy the tools to accomplish this and we need to divide our labour to make sure that these tasks get done, hopefully leaving us some time to do the things that we really want to do.
C'mon guys - we live in the 21st century, not a time when women were considered mere chattels. It's time to give up on all this macho "I do want I want to do, I'm the breadwinner" posturing -you know that it's all bullshit anyway and, as Pickle so succinctly put it, it'll come back to bite you on the arse one day (if it hasn't done so already, in one subtle way or another).
And no, I'm not some pathetic under-the-thumb saddo. I don't put up with any bullshit from Karen and, what's equally important, she doesn't put up with any from me. What money comes into the household is our money, regardless of who brought it home. It's a combined effort and we each contribute as best we can.
I don't think that there's any other way - as always YMMV of course...
