Why wearing gloves is a good idea

Popped off for a quick ride, nah I don't need gloves, might be for the last time this year.

Pictured is what happens when riding downhill on a narrow path with head high thick vegetation - why bother with cantis when a bramble attached to your hand will easily arrest your speed?

What with my legs being in a similar state plus nettle rash, bathtime should be fun.

Thats nothing - front wheel skid into my mate's Peugeot handlebars popped one of my finger nails from its root - now that hurt.

Funnily enough today was the first time I've ever worn gloves on a bike - including winter rides :shock:

My legs survived too - tracky bottoms

I remember when I came off when I wasn't wearing gloves. Was about to face plant and what did I do? You guessed it! I put my hands out in front of me! I spent about 2 hours with a needle picking the gravel out of the palms of my hands! :shock: Always worn gloves ever since.

I crashed once at Welwyn GC track during a devil. Lost loads of skin, notably from my hands. No mitts :shock:
