A friend of mine had a similar experience on trails down in Sussex - except it was a bramble someone had tied across the trail! Arseholes the lot of them.

Makes you wonder. Same mentality as those who drop things on motorways, etc.

Just have to carry on and try not to think about it.

I cycled at pace into a newly placed parking barrier chain at dusk one time, very amusing to my friends. Potentially fatal.
