who would buy a chainset like this?

A few years ago we upgraded a Dawes tandem and found it had an odd crank. There is probably more out there than you realize. It was at the back and the wife said she had not noticed anything odd about it but it cant have been doing her riding any good.By the time we had swapped all the bits and then decided to swap the frame it ended up like triggers broom on only fools and horses.Had it for years. Five new heads and three new shafts but its still the original broom

Re:

A couple of years ago I rescued a les ephgrave frame from a scrap pile, right side was campy strada double that some pillock had cut all the teeth of the out side chain ring !! And the left side was a old dura ace, they looked so similar in design it was ages before I actually took a good look at them and realised that they were different  on the plus side they were the same length :D

I have a suspicion our Dawes cranks were wrong from the factory.Having said that it was probably the chainset supplier who sent them a wrong set and Dawes failed to notice. Its not the sort of thing you expect so I can hardly blame them for not checking( o.k.I did but alls forgiven now ).
