Who is right?

Please end our debate!

We always debate with my brother wether this side of the bottom bracket is supposed to come off or the other.

He thinks that both of them were made, so originally some of them was like the one on the picture and some the opposite.

But i think otherwise, and the reason for that is because when this side comes off, its really hard to put it back unless you give it a little polish on the inside, and why would it be like that?? I think a reasonable answer would be that they have usen a wrong kind of an adhesive in the factory and somehow the other side gets more stuck overtime than the “glued” one..

We sure have seen like.. 40-50 pieces of un-71 bottom brackets and it seems to be half of this type and half of the other, almost precisely 50-50 in our experience.

both sides can come off, but normally you leave the drive side on and remove the non drive side, you install the drive side then the non drive side. officially anyways. I normally fit the non drive side loose, then the drive side gets fitted and torqued, then the non drive side gets torqued.

I normally fit the non drive side loose, then the drive side gets fitted and torqued, then the non drive side gets torqued.

Same. And always undo non-drive-side first.
