Which Tora?

I'll be looking at some new forks soon and been looking at the Rockshox Tora's.
I wanted a fork around 4-5" but what I want to know is that I weigh about 110kg's (242 pounds), so do I go for a coil one or solo air?
I'm assuming that the solo air one you can pump up to suit your weight where as the coil one you would need diferent weight springs?

Oh dear god, WHY?

Do you hate your wrists.
This is a retro site, buy old buy quality.
Leave the new rubbish to the kids with their bleached mullets

Air ones with Motion control damping, 318's used to be sought after (dunno if they still do the 318 with the new naming they're now using)

Air is more adjustable than coil (just add/remove air rather than changing springs) & the MoCo damping is very good & much better than Turnkey Damping.

Cool thanks for that.
Just looking for a cheapish fork that I can do a little of everything on but mainly XC.

I weigh the same as you and i'm 6' 5". I had a set of the 318's 130mm air on a Giant Reign 6" full sus and abused them stupid but they just shrugged off everything I could throw at them. Beavis on here has them now on his soon to be sold 05 Alpine Trail. They still work perfect.

I'm 15 stone in old money and use some Recon Race on my Kula and they take my weight fine. I did see (maybe at wiggle) they were doing a deal on these that made them only marginally more expensive than the Toras but they are a fair bit lighter IIRC, maybe if you can get a deal it would be worth it. Not going to knock the Toras as if they are anything like as good as the Recons they will be great.
Scrat we all need a bit of comfort sometime, I like it when I am out with the family so use the Kula, but when I am on my own I have the choice of fully rigid retro or FS retro.

Carl.

I've had some 289's and 302's (both u-turn and with springs, not air). Found them heavy, but apart from that spot on. Fairly stiff, smooth through the travel.

I've got the 318's on my Inbred, work very well although I can't make the best use of the Motion Control damping as I don't have the adjustable Poploc lever. They are wound down to approx 100mm travel and cope with my weight admirably even though I am somewhat over the weight bracket of the spring I assume is shipped as standard (they do seem a little soft at times).
