Coolest components are the ones that provide the view when on the bike...headset, stem, bar, shifters, levers, grips. Nothing worse than looking down at your controls and seeing tatty crap!
Pics like these tell a lot about a bike and the rider... I already know what riding is all about, and with photos like these, from this vantage point, I get to imagine what its like to ride a certain bike set-up other than my own. Now I get to daydream about riding my own bikes AND yours!

I also think folks who consider this pic vantage point important are thinking about the importance of the view from the cockpit and the feel of the cockpit too, and to me that shows a more introverted perspective on biking than just taking the ubiquitous drivetrain shot. This is the
riders perspective. Othe shots are just museum stills.
