Which bike lock

Cable locks are best.

Interesting frame design there....is that the latest project from Mike Burrows? ;)

On a serious note - partly out of geographical loyalty (you could see their old factory from the top storey of the school I went to!) I'd put in a recommendation for Squire on durability/reliability grounds. I bought one of their lower-end key-operated cable locks from now-defunct York bike shop Russells of Toft Green back in late 1999 when I was a student, and am still using it 14 years on!

Locks to avoid:-
Cable locks unless it's fatter than your thumb it's useless.
Combination locks if u have to get one with 5 digit combo, still rubbish if it's cable.
Any lock if it relies on a cylinder key, remarkably easy to open, even kryptonite locks can be opened.

In my shop I stopped selling cable locks altogether and the rest of the lock stock was gold standard. I held a demo supply of poor bike locks and as part of the sales pitch to show how fast it is to break most locks, as a guide a lock ought to be 10% of the value of bike.
