Hi,

Just after some ideas for a member of another forum I'm on, this is his original post:

Having just treated myself to a shiney new bike, i really need somewhere to ride it....Anyone on here able to point me towards good online resources (or personal recommendations!) of off-road trails preferably in, or around the midlands?

I know there is Cannock Chase nearby (anyone been?), and I'm planning on getting a couple of OS maps to work out where the local bridleways are, but I'm keen to find some interesting routes to go play on....& don't want to annoy anyone by riding where i shouldn't - or missing out on cool stuff as i don't know its there

I'll give him a link to this thread so any suggestions will be very welcome.

Cheers.

Cannock is great, quite a large forrest to get lost in.
The Follow the Dog man made trail isn't bad either and as of next Saturday will double in size to 15 miles or so.

Hanchurch/Swynnerton/Trentham is small, theres circuit of Hancurch used for some XC races but it's only 4 or so miles around and not a great deal of variety, passes an hour. XC race talking place there on Sunday.

This is local too, no idea what the ride is like.

They are my locals, from Stoke.
Stoke hasn't got much but it's central to many places that have.

Forest of Dean - Pedalabikeaway centre. Various trails from there and good singletrack ridden by several folk on the forum. Guys in the centre are usually happy to advise and help with maps etc.

As FC says we have a whole section dedicated to rides. I'll move this over there and hopefully it'll get a better response.

Assuming he's in the Midlands Cannock is a great start.
