Where in the world is safe?!?!

With all the natural distasters (Christchurch, Japan etc) going on and unnatural cr@p going on (syria, libiya etc) where is safe in the world right now?
I live in Christchurch and still living in my earthquake raveaged house. I have no drainage, sewage, silt up to the floorboards under the house, burst water main under the house somewhere, house is on a lean and a half and still sinking and to make matters worse we had another 5.3 last night that woke me up with a hell of a fright.
On the upside we have power, albeit we have been told that the power network in my area is fragile and we have to conserve power as much as possible and to expect power outages over winter which we are coming into.
We have to go to other peoples houses for showers, to do washing and to get decent water.
It's been like this since Feb!
Almost at ends wit! Although with all the stuff going on around the world is there anywhere decent to live these days?

Wish I could help dude.

Been thru my share of earthquakes here in SoCal. Rode out the Sylmar and Northridge earthquakes as I live only a few miles from them.

Keep your chin up.

Yeah trying to keep my chin up. After the first quake in September I thought it couldn't get worse... it did and alot worse.
My partner and I were talking about moving to another city perhaps, but we have 2 dogs and 4 cats to consider, more the 2 dogs which we would want to take with us.
I love Melbourne (Australia) but there's no MTB tracks within an hours drive! I know it's petty, but if we were to move we would have to consider everything!

Seems to me there are natural disasters waiting to happen everywhere in the world, however with some places more prone to them than others. I live where the natural disaster we fear is earthquakes, but the last big one here was in 1989-so maybe we are due soon. When I look at what the twisters just did in the eastern US this last week with a 1/2 mile wide swath of destruction for miles and miles, I'm almost glad we only get earthquakes!--------almost...

Hobart? Never been there, but didn't you guys have a big cyclone or hurricane a number of years ago?

scotland
its cold and wet (generally) but quiet
loads of free access countryside too

Hahaha I don't do cold and wet!
Christchurch is kinda cold but hardly wet. Overcast alot but hardly ever rains.
Couldn't deal with the rain on a constant basis!

Cyclones happen up north in the tropics/ sub-tropics, and rarely if ever move south of Brisbane.

Problem is anywhere south of Cairns is too cold!
