Where in Manchester/NW

...can I take my 1" Direct Drive fork to have the thread extended. Have tried my LBSs and drawn a blank so far. Even long established businesses seem to have abandoned the old stuff completely in favour of Ahead.

If you have no luck finding an LBS that'll do the work then your local engineering shop will be able to do no problem.

Extending the thread

Hi Fella
Try the little bike shop just off Tib Street in Central Manchester.
It's run buy a few really good chaps who certainly know their stuff.

They added a good 8 cm of thread to a steerer for £15, whilst I waited.

Sterling service and good banter.

Thanks for the suggestions guys....c-k1 I'll give the Tib Street shop a go as I get into town now and then. I was aware of the place but had a case of temporary amnesia :?

Good on you, matey, keeping the little guys in business :D

Remember, though, that they do "first come first served" on repairs.
They do actually like you to leave the stuff with them for a while, unless you're customer number 1 of the day.

That's OK, there's loads of 'interesting' pubs in the immediate area...
